New Leaf flash cart spotted at flea market

For those of you unfamiliar with New Leaf, it was Blockbuster’s idea to simply be able to download any games, any time to blank cartridges. The concept was intended to always have a title available at any time through the distribution network, all they had to worry about is to have enough flash carts on-hand on every store and flash them for rent.

As far as I know, the project was cancelled and no hardware is known to survive– until now, that is. Forum member Schiggidyd from the segaage.com boards found what appears to be the only working flash cartdridge in a flea market of all places. He’s got a few pictures and a video from the 90’s with some background, but little is known about its origins.
