An attack known as “Rowhammer” takes advantage of a flaw introduced by the laws of physics. Yep, you read that right. By taking advantage of current leaks on current DDR3 memory, control can be gained over a system in a very short amount of time. Quite an impressive feat, mind you. The attack will not work against DDR3 ECC RAM or any variation of DDR4, but is still worrisome nevertheless. Go right onto the Ars Tehnica site and read more about it.
